Palestine in the Park: an Evening of Gratitude with Moshen Mahdawi and Friends held in White River on August 16th, brought together activists, musicians, and one lone politician to rally for the end of Palestinian occupation and to support Mahdawi, who was detained on April 14th following an interview at an immigration office in Colchester, Vt., which he hoped would be his final step towards gaining full U.S. citizenship. After signing a pledge of allegiance to the U.S., he was arrested by Homeland Security agents who wore masks to hide their identity. At Saturday's event, Mahdawi told his story and thanked his supporters who rallied to help him.
