Description The Black Matter Is Life is a three-part program hosted by UNH Prof. Dennis Britton and Exeter Academy instructor Courtney Marshall exploring the vast diversity within African American poetic tradition. L'Merchie Frazier joined as the guest poet and visual artist on 1/19/23. The conversation centered poems within the context of the African American literary tradition, their cultural heritage, the traditions they encompassed, and the relevance this tradition has to us today.
