Dr. Kendra LaRoche and the Special Needs Support Center have been honored by the Governor's Committee on the Employment of People with Disabilities, which recognizes businesses that embody the "Spirit of the ADA" through their commitment to hiring, training and advocating for individuals with disabilities.
The mission of the Governor's Committee is to promote equal employment for all Vermont citizens by advising the Governor on current issues affecting the employment of people with disabilities and fostering partnerships among businesses, government, and people with disabilities.
The Special Needs Support Center traces its beginning to 1979, when the parents of a girl with autism began reaching out to other parents in the community, who formed a support network that now is an organization helping individuals with disabilities and their families meet challenges through advocacy and program support.
